One Million Drunk Driving Arrests Each Year
SCRAM CAM® in DUI Programs
Despite significant progress over the past few decades, drunk driving continues to wreak havoc in the lives of victims and to pose serious public safety issues for communities. But initiatives like 24/7 Sobriety Programs, Target 25, and DUI Courts are taking the lead to turn the tide on alcohol-impaired driving. SCRAM CAM® is a key part of helping DUI programs assess offenders, enforce accountability and compliance, and address the root cause of drunk driving: alcohol misuse, abuse, and addiction.
How SCRAM CAM® Tests Alcohol Through the Skin
If you’ve ever noticed the aroma coming from someone who drank tequila the night before, then you’ve experienced the very event that spawned the interest of our founders in the science of transdermal alcohol monitoring.
While the technology that allows the SCRAM CAM® bracelet to effectively test and report alcohol consumption based on transdermal testing is relatively new, the science of transdermal testing is not.
Not All Monitoring Devices are Created Equal
When considering Continuous Alcohol Monitoring (CAM) technologies, it’s important to understand what’s required for a technology to truly be CAM. Only systems that meet these requirements are considered court-validated. Systems that don’t meet these requirements should not be considered “the same as CAM” and should be subjected to the same peer-review and judicial scrutiny as court-validated CAM.
Making a Difference
Time and again, research has shown that SCRAM Continuous Alcohol Monitoring® supports long-term behavior change in alcohol-involved clients. And that body of research comes to life in the real-world stories from our clients.
